Belladona.

The first unknown place I went to in Italy this time was Siena.
That is a relatively small city close to Florence, if my memory's good about one hour and a half away from Florence. You can either go there by train or bus, which would cost about the same ( 12euros) from Santa-Maria-Novella.

I usually am not a big fan of small cities, especially that kind of very dry and southern ones, but I really loved Siena, it was somehow, love at first sight.

As soon as we got out of the station, we could smell delicious food and were welcomed by the red bricks of lovely houses. Streets were narrow and paved, with charming restaurants, wine bars lining up and an exquisite summer feeling in the air.

The narrowness and cuteness of everything makes the Piazza del Campo even more impressive and breathtaking! You only have time to walk down a few stairs and you're suddenly in the light, in this immense circular square( impossible to take a picture of it though).

We didn't have a lot of time so we decided to only walk to the Duomo and visit the cathedral, which was breathtaking and probably one of the most unique and interesting one I've ever seen. The outside looks so subtle and fragile like marble lace, yet it's massive. The inside is ... to die for. It's just amazingly beautiful!

I would have loved to spend the night there, I'm sure at night the city is even more charming and it must feel so good to just have dinner in a tiny lovely restaurant. Especially if  you love wine, which is unfortunately not my case. But we definitely enjoyed visiting it, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone around Florence with a bit of extra time on their hands. You can get so easily tired of how touristy and big Florence is, when it's not that big in fact, but oh well, and Siena would be the perfect one or two days escape!

Here's a vlog of the day we spent there! It shows even more how pretty the city is!
